From Guidance to Accountability: A 3-Year Reflection of a System Analyst Journey

By Super Admin

There are no shortcuts to flight hours. Experience truly is the best teacher, and that is a reality I have lived firsthand. Starting as a fresh graduate stepping into the industry with plenty of doubts, to now transforming into someone holding full accountability for system architecture.

I remember clearly how at the beginning of my career, the working atmosphere was filled with "guidance"—where every step, ERD decision, and PRD drafting still had to be directed and validated by superiors. However, over time, the wheels turned. That phase has now shifted into "accountability". We are no longer guided to find solutions; we are expected to bring mature solutions to the table.

An Organic Process That Cannot Be Bypassed

Experience is an organic process that can never be bypassed by certifications or reading textbook theories. This natural process is what slowly shapes character, hones soft skills, and expands a System Analyst's horizon of knowledge.

Through this process, we learn to understand technical issues not just on the surface, but down to their root causes. Tactical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities can only be born from an instinct trained by facing hundreds of errors, missed requirements, and tight production release deadlines in the real world.

3 Years of Notes, Insights, and Working Principles

Entering the third year of this career journey, many things have become valuable notes, insights, and warnings about what pitfalls to avoid in the future. Becoming a System Analyst with character is not just about how great we are at designing database architectures, but about how we maintain professional integrity.

To work with a strong character, we must possess principles and steadfastness. Above all, collaboration is key. A System Analyst is the bridge between business and technology, and that bridge will only stand firm if built on a foundation of mutual respect, transparent communication, and a shared commitment to delivering the best solutions.
